Reverse Proxy

A reverse proxy is a server that sits in front of web servers and forwards client (e.g. web browser) requests to those web servers. Reverse proxies are typically implemented to help increase security, performance, and reliability. We use CloudFlare’s reverse proxy service to provide that first line of defense.

Dedicated VPS

A Virtual Private Server, also known as a VPS, acts as an isolated, virtual environment on a physical server, which is owned and operated by a cloud or web hosting provider. VPS hosting uses virtualization technology to split a single physical machine into multiple private server environments that share the resources. We use a company called Vultr to host all our servers. You will have your own VPS with a dedicated IP address housed in any one of 32 worldwide locations in a modern secure facility. With a 99.999% uptime commitment your website will always be available.

Server Security Scanning

Using ModSecurity, an open-source project run by OWASP the Open Worldwide Application Security Project, a nonprofit foundation that works to improve the security of software, we protect the server from attacks.

WordPress Security Scanning

We don’t stop at the server for your security. Using WordFence we scan for the newest exploits, detect the newest malware, and block malicious IP addresses from attacking your website.

Best Practices

This leaves the weakest link of all, people. All accounts that have access to the website with administrator access must use Two Factor Authentication (2FA). You may have seen this mentioned by your bank or other financial institution. In all areas that pose a security risk 2FA has been implemented.

Monitoring

No matter how many safeguards are implemented there is still the risk that you get hacked. Monitoring is one of the most important means to detect that something is wrong. Additionally, monitoring can tell you what is going on with your website and where changes should be made.
